Establishing Routine
There is no such thing as a “typical” childminding day. However most days will have to include mealtimes, naps, school runs, playtime, arrivals and departures and domestic activities.
I understand the importance of routine but I am also realistic about how long every day activities can take. I allow children to enjoy activities at their own pace by providing a stable but flexible environment.
Our days generally involve play groups, music, messy play and free play and we use the garden and the local parks as much as possible. I also try to plan atleast one adult-initiated activity each day.
There is quiet time, usually after lunch where the children can sit and look at books or watch television.
I try to vary the activities as much as I can so that the children have the opportunity to explore many new and exciting things.
